Domestic beef is treated with a special chrome tanning process known as 2-fattening to create a soft leather that has a moist feel to the touch.The leather is left in an almost bare condition with only a final buffing process, and by applying steam and heat at the same time, the leather retains its thickness while creating a gloss and fine texture.
